Daughter Frida, born in September 2020
Jonas and Trine's first child, daughter Frida, was born in September 2020 – the same autumn Jonas rode his first Grand Tour, the Vuelta a España, as a domestique for Primož Roglič. Frida has her birthday in September, and she was not yet two when she first became part of the Danish public's picture of Jonas Vingegaard in the summer of 2022.
The name Frida has been used publicly by TV 2 and other media, and Jonas has mentioned her in interviews. Her exact date of birth has not been made public.
The family at the 2022 Tour win
Frida was there when Jonas won his first Tour de France. After the time trial to Rocamadour on the penultimate day he went straight to Trine and Frida and, according to SBS, said that having "my two girls" at the finish meant even more to him. The next day in Paris, 24 July 2022, he gave his first interviews as Tour winner with his daughter on his lap, Velo reported.
Three days later Trine and Frida stood with him on the balcony of Copenhagen City Hall, and the following day the whole family was at the party in Glyngøre. Read more about the celebration at City Hall Square and Tivoli.
Father again: Hugo was born in September 2024
On 13 September 2024 TV 2 reported that Jonas Vingegaard had become a father again. His mother-in-law, Rosa Kildahl, confirmed the news, telling TV 2 it was "a healthy boy" and that "everyone is doing well". Frida had become a big sister. According to Rosa Kildahl, the couple had not known in advance whether it would be a boy or a girl.
The name only became public six months later. During Paris-Nice in March 2025 Jonas told TV 2 that his son is called Hugo.
Life as a father in the peloton
A professional rider spends many days a year away from home at races and altitude camps. In the same March 2025 interview Jonas said, according to Alt.dk, that he enjoys being a father of two even though it is demanding and sleep is sometimes short. About all the race days he said: "At home we say I'm going on holiday when I go to a bike race."
Trine has also spoken about the travel. In August 2026 she told Viaplay that her criticism of the travel load was about Jonas being an introvert who hates the travel days – not about how much he is at home. More about her on the page about Jonas Vingegaard's wife Trine.
Glyngøre celebrates the family
The local community in Glyngøre has celebrated not just Jonas but the whole family. At the party at Interfjord Park on 28 July 2022 he came home with Trine and Frida. After the 2026 Giro win, residents could record a video greeting for the family at Kassehuset on the harbour, according to TV Midtvest. These public moments are the ones the children have been part of – otherwise the family keeps them out of the spotlight.
