Where Does Jonas Vingegaard Live?

Where does Jonas Vingegaard live? He lives with his wife, Trine, and their two children in the Glyngøre area of Salling, in Skive Municipality in north-west Jutland, Denmark. In April 2024 the family bought a large house just south of the town, according to TV Midtvest and TV 2. We only publish what is publicly known at town level – never addresses or streets.

Glyngøre in Salling is his home town

Glyngøre lies on the Limfjord in the northern part of Salling, not far from Thy, where Jonas was born and raised. He was already living in Glyngøre with Trine before his breakthrough, and when he came home after winning the 2022 Tour the town was described as his home town. On 28 July 2022 about 22,000–23,000 people turned up at the local stadium, Interfjord Park, according to the police – in a town that normally has around 1,400 inhabitants, as the news agency AFP put it.

The town has followed him ever since. Before the 2026 Giro d'Italia Glyngøre was dressed in pink, DR reported, and after the Giro win there was an informal tribute at Kassehuset on Glyngøre harbour. More about the celebrations on the page about the celebration in Copenhagen.

From Thy to Salling

His roots are in Thy. Jonas was born in Hillerslev, started cycling at Thy Cykle Ring and, during his ColoQuick years, worked at the Chrisfish factory in Hanstholm. Glyngøre lies on the other side of the Limfjord, and that is where he settled with Trine. Both areas therefore count him as their own.

On 20 April 2024 TV Midtvest and TV 2 reported that Jonas and Trine had bought a large house just south of Glyngøre; the news first appeared in Ekstra Bladet. According to the media the house is over 400 square metres, and the family took it over on 1 May 2024. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

Celebrity magazines have since written about further property deals and building plans in the area. The family has not confirmed them, and we do not repeat them here. Nor do we publish any address, street name or pictures of the house.

Why the family stays in Denmark

Many of the world's best riders live abroad, close to the mountains and with shorter journeys to races. Around 2023 the Vingegaard family had a temporary base in Switzerland, and in the autumn of 2023 several media outlets wrote that the family had moved. Trine, however, has repeatedly said they are not leaving the town. As early as January 2023 she told Femina: "We are people of Glyngøre. We are locals, not citizens of the world in that sense." Later, according to Billed-Bladet, she stated: "We are not moving from Glyngøre."

We have not found an interview in which Jonas himself explains the choice in detail, so we will not put words in his mouth. The closest is Trine's interview with Viaplay in August 2026, in which she explained that he is an introvert who hates all the travel days, and suggested riders could use an altitude room at home instead of spending long periods away at altitude camps.

Locally he is described as an ordinary resident. "Jonas is Jonas. He doesn't get to skip the queue in the supermarket because he is famous," said Frank B. Schleef, chairman of the local association in Glyngøre, as quoted by TV Midtvest in April 2024.

Training abroad

Although home is in Salling, much of his training happens elsewhere. Like most professionals he spends periods at training and altitude camps with the team, and in early October 2026 he was seen training in Mallorca, Domestique reported. As of 25 October 2026 the team has not published his 2027 programme, but it has called the 2027 Tour de France the main goal.
